How We're Working During the Pandemic

School News , Public Speaking , Faculty

Dear Buckley School friends,

First and most important, we hope you're healthy and doing well. We know the last few months have been difficult for just about everyone.

We also thank all of you who've checked in to see how we are. We miss hosting our Executive Seminars at the school in Camden. We miss traveling to client worksites to deliver programs. Without a doubt, our favorite kind of public speaking instruction is done in person, face to face.

Pandemic Shmandemic--Buckley coach Katie Pope welcomed her first grandchild a few days ago. AND granddaughter #2 is expected any day!

For those who are curious about what we're up to, we are finding ways to help people with their messages and their delivery, even while we're all working in new ways.

We've been reviewing videos and coaching delivery by phone and through Zoom, and we’ve been leading some workshops online.

When Buckley director Karen Kalutz hasn't been busy at the school, she's used her extra time at home in Camden to work on an impressive garden. She and husband Ted also raise chickens, so no worries at their house about the food supply chain. (Toilet paper is another matter. They aren't making their own...yet.)

Meanwhile, some of our coaches have wrapped up teaching their college classes. Others are busy at work designing online training for companies and government agencies. And as you know, a couple of our coaches also serve as elected officials (mayor, county council), so they've also been hard at work serving their communities.

Buckley director Jenny Maxwell has stayed busy with writing assignments and helping companies move their programs online...though she did finally manage to spill some pea gravel into that unsightly crater in front of her she shed.

We're looking ahead to this fall, planning for on-site programs and private coaching sessions and working on how we can host our Executive Seminars safely for everyone. If we can help you in the meantime—or if you just want to chat—don't hesitate to get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!
