Down on the Corner: Guitars & Nashville Stars

Welcome to Camden , Just For Fun , The Buckley Experience

There are any number of reasons that music fans, particularly country music fans, might want to stop by Davis & Sons Guitar Shop on Camden’s Broad Street.

You'll find guitars, of course. And if you catch up with owner Rusty Davis, you’ll get to chat with a local music legend. As the store’s Facebook page puts it:

"Rusty has a willing ear to listen to everyone's hopes and dreams, love for music, financial issues, recent break-up stories, hard times, and the latest juicy gossip of Camden."

You can improve your music skills. Buckley faculty member Alejandro Garcia has been known to fit in a guitar lesson there between sessions at our Executive Seminar.

You can brush also up against a little bit of Nashville. Another of our faculty, Otis Taylor, traveled to Nashville a few years ago to write about one of those Davis sons—musician and songwriter Patrick Davis.

Patrick Davis has written songs for Lady Antebellum, Jewel, Darius Rucker, Jimmy Buffett and many more. According to Patrick, his first job was playing on stage with his father and music is the only job he’s had since.

Father Rusty and son Patrick are playing together again these days. Patrick has been touring with a 12-piece band that includes his father playing guitar and his sister singing lead backup vocals.

Davis & Sons is just a couple of blocks from The Buckley School. Find hours, directions, and contact information here.
